Questions for Reflection:

  1. How does eternal life in Christ influence your view of illness, healing, and death?
  2. How does Martha’s statement show a balance between what God can do vs. what God will do? (v.21-22)
  3. What does it mean to “live and believe” in Christ on a daily basis? (v.26)
  4. What do you think of Jesus’ response to Mary’s weeping? (v.33)
  5. Based on v. 40, how does the purpose of Lazarus’ resurrection mirror the purpose of his illness and death in v.4?
  6. How does Jesus use a physical miracle with Lazarus to demonstrate a spiritual miracle with us?
