"Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship."

Romans 11:33-12:1

WHY DO WE WORSHIP GOD

Worship is the act of glorifying God and enjoying him. To Him is due from angels and men, and every other creature, whatsoever worship, service, or obedience He is pleased to require of them (Rev 5:12-14). We worship the one true God as both creator and savior (Deut 6:4; 1 Thes 1:9). All creation is called to worship the Triune God (Ps 100) Although all creation is called to worship God at all times, Christians believe that the gathering together for public worship.

"Each moment of every day belongs to God and is to be lived before His presence, in submission to His lordship, and to His honor and glory. It is also necessary that a due proportion of time be set apart for offering to God that worship which He has commanded all people to give (Ps 95-100) Such worship is to be given individually, in families, and in corporate gatherings of public worship." (Directory of Public Worship II.2)

Throughout all of creation, God has set apart one day in seven to be Holy, (Ex 20:8) following Jesus resurrection the church has gathered to worship on the Lord's Day, Sunday, to worship the Triune God. God calls his people to worship him through the reading, hearing, and preaching of His Word, the singing of Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual songs, (Eph 5:19; Col 3:16) administration of the sacraments and offering up of prayers. All of this pointing towards the glory of the Triune God and enjoying his great goodness.
