Background:

Sam Matthew Manual was born in Munar, India, on August 15, 1973. He grew up in a Christian home, his parents being second-generation evangelical Christians. Sam grew up in St. Louis and earned a BS degree in Bible Studies from Emmaus Bible College (Iowa) in 1996 and a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Columbia International University (SC) in 1999.

Sam came to know the Lord Jesus during a VBS program when he was eight years old. Throughout his youth, Sam was involved in youth ministry — he led a praise band and discipled youth at Surfside Presbyterian Church (Myrtle Beach), spent six months as a camp director for underprivileged kids (Clemson University), and most recently served as Recreation Specialist for the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. His desire to move to full-time youth ministry led him to Adams Farm Community Church. He feels that all of the things he has done in his life have in some way helped prepare him for being a youth minister.

Sam's passions include all types of music, sports, film, and anything that involves spending time with people. He likes Asian foods (his favorite is his mother's Indian cuisine), romantic comedies, and any sports team from St. Louis. He admits a “subtle yet mildly disturbing obsession with Superman and all things related.”
